Description

This is the perfect fit for your 2008-2021 Toyota Tundra

When you are in the Baja as much as Neal Technologies, you know that having great communications means having a great antenna. Mounting that antenna has always been a choice between a temporary magnetic base mount or the dreaded drilling a large hole in the top of your truck. We knew that there had to be a better way and not only did we find it, we patented it too!

The Third Brake Light Antenna Mount is simple to install and can be done with a minimal amount of tools. Of course we provide installation instructions (see link above) to make installation as easy as possible.

The Third Brake Light Antenna Mount features a lot of great benefits:

Save your Roof allows for an effective and simple way to attach an antenna at the back of the cab of your truck - without drilling a hole!

High-mount Location is the optimal location for maximum antenna effectiveness.

Weather-tight Seal gasket on the back-side of the mounting flange creates a weather-tight seal against the cab.

(2) 15-foot Co-axial Cable that is easy to run inside the cab above the head liner and then routed to various locations for your radio install.

Industry Standard Connectors with an NMO-style antenna base that is connected to fifteen feet of co-axial cable terminated with a PL-259 male UHF connector that works with a wide-range of popular radios on the market.  Need an SMA instead of a PL-259 for a weBoost Cell Signal Booster?  We can do that, just give us a call at 480-247-2331.

Do you need a different length cable (standard is 15 feet)? Please give us a call and we can assist you with your specific needs!

Tundra Install

Overall, this is an excellent product. It installed about as easy at it could on my 2019 Tundra. For the radio nerds out there, the cables are DX Engineering (solid, choice cable) RG58 coax with pressed PL259 connectors. The mount is solid metal and the NMOs are electrically connected (metal to metal) to the mount. The mount's through bolts also ground to the truck cab, but additional bonding may be necessary (so far I haven't done any additional grounding or bonding).
SWR readings were decent as well. My Comet CA-2x4 read 1.46 at 52 watts VHF and about the same SWR at 1.5 at 46 watts UHF. My other antenna is a Larson Tri-band for the SDS100 scanner and it performs very well. I also tested Compactenna Scan-III (scanner antenna) which performed well and the Compactenna LMR's lowest SWR was 1.67 at 52 watts VHF and 1.72-ish at 44 watts UHF (I did a sweep and these were the lowest SWRs which were at the lower end of the 2m/70cm band's frequencies). Although the placement isn't ideal for Compactenna, they do perform well but the Larson and Comet do seem to perform better on this mount. Keep in mind this is a compromised location for antennas. That aside, I was still able to make a simplex contact at 23.5 miles in heavily-suburban terrain.
As far as aesthetics, this is a damn good looking mount in my opinion! Also, already had rain storms and washed my truck and no leaks at all. Follow the included instructions and plan on about 1.5-2.5 hours install time.
