Third Brake Light Antenna Mount - 2017 - 2024 Ford Super Duty

You may think this is expensive at first but once you get it you will see why! superb quality and machining went into this thing!! Very happy with fit and appearance .

Everything fit as it should but, as I was installing the last set of screws, the hex head on one of the 10-24 screws stripped. I had to use an easy-out to remove the screw. I tried driving the other screw into the same hole and the head on that screw also started to strip. I removed the light assembly and tried driving the screw into the threaded hole and again it started binding. Fortunately I have a tap and die set, so I ran a 10-24 tap through the hole and had pieces of metal debris come out when I removed it. I ran the tap through the other threaded holes and had debris come out of the other holes also. I suspect the holes weren’t cleaned out after they were initially tapped. I had to make a trip to the hardware store to buy more screws in order to put it together.
Also, the manual was pretty confusing until I figured out that the second page was printed on page five. The order of the pages was 1, 3, 4, 5, 2 and 6.

I don’t usually leave reviews. Put the antenna mount on my new 2023 ford super duty. Thought it was pricy when ordered. But when I got the quality is amazing. Worth the money for a nice clean mount. Make sure yo get a NMO mount antenna. Thanks

My wife and I are both Amateur radio operators and also hold a GMRS license. When we got our new Ford F350 I needed a clean durable mount and being that we have the glass roof our options seemed bleak. Considered another brand by a well-known antenna manufacturer but in deeper study the BPD mount was far superior in durability, design and cable routing into the cab. Install was easy and I ran my antenna analyzer on several NMO mounted mobile antennas. SWR's were fantastic, which I was a bit surprised by since by default Ford designed the 3'rd break light to fasten into plastic clips into the cab which causes the mount to technically not have an electric ground between this base mount and the cab. I figured if I had a problem, I'd just run a ground strap the short one inch or so internally to ground the BDP bracket to the chassis, but I didn't have to. I did read another review stating that they could not get a decent SWR but I can assure you on every antenna in VHF and UHF my SWR's are stellar. The antenna I ended up using was a Comet CA-2X4SR due to its broadband characteristics for Amateur, Land Mobile, GMRS, Rugged Radio and emergency search and rescue all in one along with a fold-down hinge and an optional spring which I also got. I mention this because in a single package combined with an adequate antenna the capability of this mount is extremely versatile with not just acceptable SWR tuning but spot on SWR tuning to satisfy the most stringent requirements.

This was very easy to install. The worst part was fishing the wire around my sunroof. I purchased this mount for a ham radio so i didnt have to drill a hole in the roof. Cant wait to get my radio and get it hooked up!
